QUESTION NO.9
QUESTION: Councillor T. Delaney
To ask the Manager to outline to this committee what SDCC's policy is on standards relating to commercial signage and more specifically shopfronts in the county's villages? Furthermore are there any grants available to shopowners for upgrading same?
REPLY:
The South Dublin County Development Plan 2010-2016 contains Council Policy S35: Shop Front Design, which includes a series principals in relation to the design of shopfronts, and Council Policy S36: Signs on Shopfronts. These policies, along with a number of other policies on advertising, detail the Council’s approach which would apply in the towns and villages within the county. There are no specific grants available for shopowners for upgrading shop front design. However, in certain circumstances, it can be more effective for Local Tidy Towns groups working with businesses in their area to affect change and help towards the creation of a place where people will wish to visit and do business in.
