"That the Chief Executive agrees that the green on Boden Park suffers from a dearth of street lighting.  Can the area be reviewed with a view to including a few more lights as part of the larger street lighting project?"

Mot (2)
Submitted by:
Councillor P. Foley
Responsibility:
Leo Magee

" That the opening hours of Tymon Park be extended? The Templeogue entrance to Tymon Park (on Wellington Lane) currently opens at 10.15am. In the interest of public health and fitness, is it possible to allow the public access to park before office opening hours so people can avail of the amenity for sports, leisure walks, runs and physical activity.

The park, the second biggest in Ireland, is a great natural resource for the public who want to use it for physical exercise.   Can we do anything to get it open earlier"

Mot (3)
Submitted by:
Councillor D. O'Donovan
Responsibility:
Leo Magee

"That the Chief Executive outlines what measures SDCC intends to take to deal with the teenagers engaged in Anti-Social Behaviour at Ballycragh Park, making the playground a no-go area for the children it was intended to serve."

Mot (4)
Submitted by:
Councillor S. Holland
Responsibility:
Leo Magee

"That the Council change current grass cutting practice to ensure that the border grass around trees & rocks is cut at the same time as the main green areas?  Otherwise green areas always look unkempt.  This small change will make a huge difference."

Environment

Questions

Qu (5)
Submitted by:
Councillor F.N. Duffy
Responsibility:
Leo Magee

"To ask the Chief Executive what interim solution to the Dodder landfill (Bohernabreena) was tabled and executed post the 2004 SDCC meeting (see below), and further to this did SDCC complete the ‘more extensive study for the final solution’ and when were the works completed.

SDCC meeting in 2004

Illegal Dumping in Dodder River “To ask the Manager what measures can the Council take to stop the illegal dumping and polluting into the Dodder River in the Clonskeagh area?”

It was noted by a Senior Executive Engineer, Environment, South Dublin County Council has advised that the pollution in question was caused by a burst dam in Bohernabreena Reservoir. The resulting flood in the river removed some waste from an old landfill site adjacent to the river. South Dublin County Council is at present assessing an interim solution to the problem and a more extensive study of the landfill will be required to determine the final solution?"

"That the Chief Executive agrees to place a litter bin/ dog poo bin at the green Boden Park.  The green is widely used by dog walkers who then hang the little poo bags on the bushes.  Residents have complained about the poo and the bags, which obviously hang around for ages as they are not biodegradable."

"That following the Tallaght Community Council's call for cattle grids to be placed on the roads leading up into the mountains and common grazing areas, that the Council install them on the Bohernabreena Road.  This would help manage the cattle whilst upholding our rural traditions.  That if this council passes the motion, we can liase with residents and the NRA to secure the best outcome."

Mot (9)
Submitted by:
Councillor P. Foley

"That the Chief Executive commence the formal process to extinguish the pedestrian right of way between Wood Dale Crescent and Parklands Road. While this right of way has been unofficially closed for over 15 years the residents would like to have the right of way formally removed –

The co-ordinates are: 53.274680, -6.338814

Location of Opening"

Mot (10)
Submitted by:
Councillor D. O'Donovan
Responsibility:
Jim Kennelly

"That the Chief Executive re-examines safety at the Spawell Roundabout as the pedestrian lights at the approach from the Templeogue direction, heading towards Tallaght is causing enormous confusion, especially for tourists visiting the County as they believe they have right of way at the roundabout and drive straight through.  I was involved in a RTA there in late June and could not believe the number of constituents who contacted me to say the exact same thing had happened to them on the Spawell Roundabout."

Mot (11)
Submitted by:
Councillor S. Holland
Responsibility:

" That the Council liaise with the relevant authority to mark Rathfarnham on exit 12 from the M50, alongside Knocklyon.  At the moment, it is marked on the Dundrum exit which is actually a longer distance from Rathfarnham."

Mot (12)
Submitted by:
Councillor D. O'Donovan
Responsibility:
Tony O Grady

"That the Chief Executive prepares a report on the state of the footpaths within the Rathfarnham area, outlining which areas need immediate attention, how long works will take and the cost of such works.  The uneven and unsafe state of a lot of the footpaths in the older estates within the Rathfarnham area is dangerous, especially for older residents who fear falling while out walking."

Mot (13)
Submitted by:
Councillor S. Holland
Responsibility:
Jim Kennelly

"That the Council examine the possibility of having a speed ramp at the entrance to Boden Park, on the Green?  A car did a full 360 turn at the entrance last week in the rain as it was speeding, and recently the speed limit signs have been removed.  Some neighbours have complained that kids can't be allowed out to play due to the irresponsible driving."

Planning

Questions

Qu (8)
Submitted by:
Councillor F.N. Duffy
Responsibility:
Suzanne Furlong

Question to the manager -

"To ask can a pedestrian access be created from Aranleigh Vale to the Walking and Cycling Route from Grange Road to Grange Downs. Resident has lived in the area for many years and noted there was always access to Nutgrove / Divine Word School and Church. Children from this area could very safely walk /cycle to school if this was reopened. In the last number of years this has been blocked off for pedestrians and cyclists - making it very inconvenient.  It would also greatly benefit the shops on Barton Drive.  At present there is a severe congestion of cars around these shops?"
