MOTION NO. 10
MOTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan
"That the Chief Executive re-examines safety at the Spawell Roundabout as the pedestrian lights at the approach from the Templeogue direction, heading towards Tallaght is causing enormous confusion, especially for tourists visiting the County as they believe they have right of way at the roundabout and drive straight through. I was involved in a RTA there in late June and could not believe the number of constituents who contacted me to say the exact same thing had happened to them on the Spawell Roundabout."
REPORT:
A Stage 3 Road Safety audit was carried out in March 2014 following the construction of the new layout at this roundabout, it was done in accordance with the National Roads Authority Road Design Manual for Roads and Bridges. No issues in relation to the Pedestrian Lights referred to on the approaches to the Roundabout were highlighted. Monitoring takes place on a regular basis in the Traffic Section thru onsight cameras and we will continue to keep the situation under observation.
