COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM/TEMPLEOGUE-TERENURE AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, September 08, 2015
MOTION NO. 8
MOTION: Councillor S. Holland
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That following the Tallaght Community Council's call for cattle grids to be placed on the roads leading up into the mountains and common grazing areas, that the Council install them on the Bohernabreena Road. This would help manage the cattle whilst upholding our rural traditions. That if this council passes the motion, we can liase with residents and the NRA to secure the best outcome."
REPORT:
It is not South Dublin County Council policy to install cattle grids on public roads. They pose a serious risk to cyclists who use the mountain roads in ever increasing numbers. However, if the location of concern is forwarded to the Roads Department staff, the area will be inspected with a view to managing the presence of livestock in an appropriate way.
