That this Committee acknowledges the Council's response to representations made, by successfully building the Skate Park in Griffeen Valley Regional Park following the seven year campaign, by committing to build the New Lucan Sports and Leisure Centre incorporating a new Swimming Pool, and now requests the Manager to report on the feasibility of a new All-Weather Playing Pitch in Griffeen Valley Regional Park. Such a facility would be of great additional leisure benefit to many people and families in the Lucan Community and in the interest of forward planning is the next sporting, recreational and leisure facility I have identified as being of benefit to the quality of life of the local Community in Lucan.

That the Manager would present a detailed report for discussion on his efforts to help resolve the issue of unattended dogs in our parks, including Griffeen Valley Regional Park. In respect of unattended dogs in our parks, what relationship is there between the Council's Dog Wardens and our Park Rangers? Such a close working relationship will help give confidence and protection to local residents who may feel threatened by unattended dogs in our parks, often  involving residents who while jogging in our parks have been set upon by unattended dogs, as reported to me recently.

"That the Manager examine the trees on Glendown Lawn which were planted by the residents many years ago but have now grown to great height, in some cases over 30 feet, which now have an adverse effect on the street lighting.  There is also a  problem with magpie nests in the trees causing damage to cars. The residents believe that the poor street lighting has reduced security on the road and cars have been interferred with.  Could the Council examine the situation to see if the trees could be severely pruned, additional lighting provided and the nests removed from the trees."

"That the Manager state why the footpaths on Greentrees Road and St. Peter's Road were excavated three times since June and to say why the Council did not encourage the service providers involved to co-ordinate their work programmes which would have reduced the inconvenience experienced by the residents."

That the Manager would report on what progress he has made to have the open space in Abbeywood Court, Lucan, taken-in-charge by South Dublin County Council. Given that local residents have been living in Abbeywood Court, Lucan, for approximately twelve years, this Committee agrees that Abbeywood Court should now be taken-in-charge by South Dublin County Council without any further delays.

To ask the Manager to report on the delay in extinguishing the pedestrian laneway in Esker Park between house Nos. 56/57 and 70/71 Esker Park, which following my motion was passed at this Area Committee. Extinguishing of this pedestrian laneway was subsequently agreed by way of a Headed Item at the Lucan/Clondalkin Area Committee Meeting of 21st June 2005. This pedestrian laneway is the source of great inconvenience, including regular Anti-Social Behaviour, to the local Residents and the Residents Association in Esker Park, Lucan.

That this Committee request the Manager to seek a meeting with the relative authorities, including the Rail Procurement Agency, to discuss the need for Luas for Lucan. Given the omission of the north Lucan area from successive transportation infrastructural projects, it is essential that this opportunity is not missed so that Lucan residents who are not living adjacent to the Adamstown Train Station, will be provided with a new alternative option to using the car to access Dublin City in the future.

To ask the Manager to report in detail, and on an area by area basis, as to what regular examinations are taking place, or planned examinations will take place, with a view to upgrading as necessary the underground water mains piping infrastructure in South Dublin in an effort to help minimise major water mains bursts which may arise owing to ageing or deteriorating water mains piping infrastructure. Such water mains bursts are the cause of huge inconvenience to the Local Residential Community in South Dublin.

That the Manager would present a detailed report for discussion on increased traffic volumes in Lucan village, including heavy goods vehicles using Lucan Village as a through way, and that this Committee requests South Dublin County Council to introduce a new regulation restricting heavy goods vehicles using Lucan village as a through way, particularly during school hours, given the threat to the safety of school-going children as well as the impact on local residents in Lucan village and the local trading community, following my earlier representations on this matter which included consultation with parents whose children attend local schools in Lucan village, local Residents Associations in Lucan village and representatives of the Lucan Village Trading Community.

That this Committee supports the concept of a Liffey Valley Park as proposed originally by Lucan Planning Council and in more recent years by Liffey Valley Park Alliance and which is also widely supported by the local Community, including all Local Residents Associations. In addition that this Committee acknowledges the historical significance of the Liffey Valley, and recognises not only the local and regional value of a Liffey Valley Park, but also its national and indeed international future potential. In such circumstances it is wholly undesirable that any future housing developments take place in the Liffey Valley, including at St. Edmundsbury and Woodville, that would undoubtedly further damage the Liffey Valley Park as did, for example, the earlier housing developments at Laraghcon.

That the Manager would report in detail on what renewed efforts he will make to improve the time-scale for Taking-In-Charge of Estates and Open Spaces in Estates from Developers. Would the Manager agree that it is not acceptable where a developer has not handed over charge of an estate twelve years after Local Residents have taken up occupancy.
