QUESTION NO. 5
QUESTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
"To ask the Manager to have the traffic lights at the junction of Ballyroan Road/Butterfield Avenue checked for safety. When turning right from Ballyroan road onto Butterfield Avenue as you move forward there is no vision of the traffic lights?"
REPLY:
After entering the junction the correct procedure is for the driver to clear the junction in gaps in opposing traffic (i.e. traffic coming from Templeogue continuing onto Ballyroan Road) or when the opposing traffic becomes stopped.
It is not intended that the traffic signals be visible to traffic coming from Ballyroan Road after crossing the stop line.
We will monitor the situation to ensure that the correct procedure is being followed, and if not, will examine ways of ensuring that they are.
