That the Manager presents a report to this Committee on the very low number of housing allocations in Clondalkin this year considering the huge numbers on the housing list.
That this Committee asks the Manager to set up a working group to investigate ways to improve Clondalkin Village for both the general public and the business community. This group could comprise of elected reps, various relevant Council department staff and interested local bodies. I submit this motion in the knowledge that we are awaiting for a new 'village renewal scheme' and the probability that financial constraints are likely to further delay any implementation of an approved plan.
To ask the Manager what is the policy in relation to the sharing of bus stops between public and private operators and is it reasonable to be requiring operators to apply for planning permission to attach their small signs to existing stops/shelters?
To ask the Manager to investigate the feasability of installing demand controlled mechanical extract ventilation systems in Council homes currently experiencing serious mould growth and fungal spores caused by condensation with a view to the eradication of the problem and the improvement of tenants health as a result of the cleaner air associated with such systems?
To ask the Manager to report what costs have been associated with grass cutting this year and compare this with the same associated costs for last year 2009?
To ask the Manager to further update on efforts to secure support and funding from the Minister of State with Special Responsibility for Sustainable Transport for this council’s proposed school-transport pilot project?
To ask the Manager to update on efforts to ensure that all SDCC customers scheduled to have a bin collection on the next Bank Holiday Monday i.e. October 25 will have their bins collected in full and if necessary to commit to hiring private operators to provide the service if staff unions fail to agree to a collection on this date?
To ask the Manager to report on missed bin collections during the month of September due to staffing problems; to include details of the routes missed and of the total number of customers who missed a collection and any customers who missed two or more collections as a result during September?
To ask the Manager if any proposals are being considered to improve the control of dog litter in public parks?
To ask the Manager to provide a detailed update on discussions with FAS, government departments and staff unions regarding the introduction of both a Work Placement Programme and a scheme to allow apprentices to complete their training; and to outline what council work areas are being considered as suitable for introduction of such programmes?
To ask the Manager to report on discussions with the Department of Environment, Heritage & Local Government regarding the proposed establishment of a directly-elected Dublin Mayor, to include details on any significant changes which will likely have to implemented by our council to facilitate the new Mayor’s office and regional structures, to advise on the costs of the new Mayor’s office and regional structures and to advise if our council will have to make any additional annual financial contribution to fund this?
