Please advise on the feasibility of extending a cycle route from Knocklyon up into Bohernabreena.
If this could also be extended into town, say Grand Canal Dock, it would provide a gateway to the mountains.
It would be of immense benefit to the area to open it up for further tourism.

That this Council recognises that SDCC is a rapidly growing population and therefore plans to be put in place to include additional swimming pools to cope with the growing population or at least provides one in each electoral area.
That this Council inserts a specific objective in the Development plan to actively seek to acquire land adjacent to the silver (Farmleigh) Bridge to develop this area as a tourist amenity in conjunction with Fingal.
To develop and Build a Green Cycle Path across the mountains from Brittas to Castlekelly to Rathfarnham with a cafe shop(s) along the route –(with perhaps a longer term view of linking with Fingal County Council and Dunlaoghaire/Rathdown County Council to build a complete semi-circular Cycle Path around Dublin).

That this Council inserts a specific objective in the Development plan to provide at least one public swimming pool in each electoral area for every 25,000 people, with priority given to those areas of largest and fastest growing population that do not already have such a pool.

That this Council inserts a specific objective in the Development plan to investigate the feasibility of extending the Special Amenity Area Order to include all of the lands at Lucan Demesne, the Embassy - owned lands, the area behind Lucan BNS, St Edmondsbury, Fonthill, Woodville, the Kings Hospital and Waterstown Park, extending from the River Liffey up to the N4 and bordered by the Leixlip-Lucan Slip Road, Lucan Village Road, the Lucan Hill Road, the Lucan Road from the Church Car Park to Woodies, the N4 onwards towards the Old Lucan Road and onwards as far as Waterstown Park.
That this Council submits recommendations to limit the holding of vacant/derelict lands/units that have no contribution to the County.
That the Council directs the Chief Executive to include a policy on a system whereby local authority tenants can replace broken windows/glass on their properties at cost price and pay by the week.
That this Council develops an integrated cycle way connection Lucan and Palmerstown to Fingal County Council and allowing greater access to St. Catherine’s Park and its associated facilities.
The County Development Plan will promote health and wellbeing and include a multifunction leisure and sports centre with a swimming pool in the Lucan LEA.
That the Council directs the Chief Executive to include a policy on the Dodder Valley Linear Park including sealing of landfills at Bohernabreena, Greenway cycleway and pedestrian paths (grade-separated), space for farmers’ markets, bike rental and servicing, picnic facilities, playgrounds supervised by adult exercise facilities/cycleways; allotments for personal use and horticultural training; increase biodiversity – lakes, fishing strands on river and lakes, open stretches of river, replant mono-planting on maturity with resilient diverse species; sleeper-track walking routes off main tarmac route, energy producing dams, weirs, wind power, exercise machines, energy producing walkways; education/interpretative centre for local and school tours, to highlight biodiversity, sustainable energy, climate change and resilience; planning to anticipate climate change; re-introduction of native fruit trees and bushes; re-introduction of native fauna and flora; actively manage identified problem areas and litter including dog fouling (separate dog walking areas?); Slí na Sláinte. A Steering Committee for all proposals within the Dodder Valley Linear Park should be set up to co-ordinate issues.

Proposed SLO - To support and encourage the proper development of the Dodder green way.
There is a need for a swimming pool for the Knocklyon / Firhouse area and this should be included in the county development plan.
12th Lock, Lucan
That this Council directs the Chief Executive to retain the current recognition of the special importance of the area around the 12th Lock, Lucan; and to include appropriate policies, objectives and actions to enhance the area as a recreational and amenity zone, to protect and conserve the rich natural and cultural heritage of the area to protect of natural habitats and ecological resources along the Grand Canal and Griffeen River.
That this Council inserts a specific objective in the Development plan to levy contributions as appropriate, for the provision of public infrastructure and facilities, including community and recreational facilities, in accordance with an agreed development contribution scheme; and also to secure a bond from the developer, which may be provided in monetary format or through the provision of an agreed number of housing units that will be retained by the Council as payment should developers not meet the criteria for taking in charge.
That this Council directs the CEO to make provision for a footpath from Newcastle to the canal at the 12th Lock and that the Green Route be extended to this bridge.
Grand Canal Green Route
That this Council directs the Chief Executive to include an objective in the new Development Plan for the extension of the Grand Canal green route from the 12th Lock to Hazelhatch.
