QUESTION NO. 20
QUESTION: Councillor E. O'Brien
To ask the Chief Executive for the number of "Green Dog Walkers" currently operating in the County?
REPLY:
The Green Dog Walkers initiative was introduced in May 2013.
Dog owners sign "the pledge" to pick up after their dog, and to offer bags to other dog owners who need them. Some GDWs even run Community Green Dog Walker promotional events!
The initiative has been widely publicised though promotional events in shopping centres, public parks, community festivals and through the "Bark in the Park" events.
Pledge forms are available in all the veterinary surgeries in the County.
A new on - line form has been created, which simplifies the process, and this will be added to all Dog Licence requests and renewals.
To date there are 583 registrations.
