"That the Manager request the Litter warden to survey the area at lunchtimes along Ballyboden Road near the Topaz garage and Pizza hut through Ballyroan Lodge to Hillside Park and Colaiste Eanna Secondary school. The area and the Owendoher river is badly littered by school goers at lunchtimes. Could some of the litter bins close to the area be moved closer to the school footfall."

Mot (4)
Submitted by:
Councillor J. Lahart
Responsibility:

"That the Manager - in recognising the ownership and therefore the responsibility of the Council over the laneway at the rear of Willbrook Park - takes steps to prepare a schedule of regular cleanups and maintenance of this lane way - which has become overgrown; fox-ridden and unsightly; that the Manager outline such a schedule to this Committee - and that this schedule of maintenance be followed until such time as the community aspect of the laneway is finalised to the satisfaction of the local residents and to the members of this Committee - who, for a number of years now have supported the right of the residents to access over this section of the laneway to develop a community garden dimension to the area."

Mot (5)
Submitted by:
Councillor J. Lahart
Responsibility:
Dave OBrien

"That the Manager arrange for the Environmental Health Officer to visit the laneway to the rear of Willbrook Park (prior to the Nov. RAC Meeting) and prepare a report for members concerning the state of the laneway from a health and safety viewpoint - particularly with regard to the presence of foxes and rodents - and for the Manager to outline their response to the state of the laneway pending the transfer of its care to local residents - as agreed in several motions to this Committee over a period of more than five years."

"That the Manager deal with the issue once again of the non-availability of a playgound in the Knocklyon area, this motion is requested on this occasion by the members of Knocklyon Network, but has appeared before this Committee on several occasions.  It appears that a suitable location namely at Cherrywood has been identified and the residents are asking for an explanation as to why Tymom Park in particular continues to get a steady flow of revenue into the development of that Park with no similar investment in the Rathfarnham ward."

Roads

Questions

Qu (8)
Submitted by:
Councillor A-M. Dermody
Responsibility:
Tony O Grady

"To ask the Manager if there is any prospect of improving/widening the pathway on the Edmondstown Road? There is a particularly narrow section just before the Chemserve factory where a house has been half built right beside the roadway. It is so narrow that it is barely possible to push a buggy without encroaching onto the road. Cars regularly travel at more than 50kmph on this section of road making it very unsafe?"

Qu (9)
Submitted by:
Councillor A-M. Dermody
Responsibility:

"To ask the Manager if there is a maintenance programme/budget each year for repair/resurfacing of speed ramps: A number of repairs have been carried out which are very satisfactory.  But we still have residents complaining about the ramps on Willow Bank Drive, these are deteriorating on the eastern side opposite the houses. The ramp at the junction of Marian Road and Orchardstown Ave is in need of urgent repairs also."

Qu (10)
Submitted by:
Councillor A-M. Dermody

"To ask the Manager to confirm what, if anything, can be done to elevate the parking outside Rathfarnham Garda Station?"

Qu (11)
Submitted by:
Councillor J. Lahart
Responsibility:

"To ask the Manager to outline the priority list of estates in respect of traffic calming measures and to outline what plans the Roads Department has to carry out these measures in the forseeable future; and failing the implementation of traffic calming in specific estates what recourse to other measures do residents have (for example in Prospect Manor estate?)"

Qu (12)
Submitted by:
Councillor J. Lahart

"Can the Manager confirm what the status of the Barton Road reservation is in terms of the Development Plan, i.e. is it still an objective to have the road completed to Nutgrove area?"

"That the Manager inspect the state of the paths in the Glendore estate, noting  also and in particular the dip in the road at the junction of Glendoher Avenue and Glendoher Drive, where the road is uneven with pedestrians and cycles reporting minor accidents due to the uneven road surface.  This area could benefit from a roundabout as a possible solution.  Also if an overall assessment of the paths could incorporate an inspection of raised lips where paths join.  If a time frame could also be provided as to when such works could be completed."

Re: Rathfarnham Tidy Towns

Roads & Footpaths

Dear Maire

As you know Rathfarnham Tidy Village & District initiative is now up and running since April 2011 and we are making good progress.

To assist in our drive to improve the area we need assistance from the Roads section of South Dublin County Council – we require upgrading as per attached map of roads and footpaths.

This will enhance the approach to the Village from The Butterfield Avenue end and also make it safer for our more elderly and disabled residents.

There is also an issue with some of the signage (which is somewhat obstructive) which I/we will advise you of again.

As we are putting a major push in relation to enhancing the Village and the environs we would request that this work is carried out in the first quarter of 2014.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Cathal Mc Carthy             Tony Kavanagh
