MOTION NO. 4

MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Manager - in recognising the ownership and therefore the responsibility of the Council over the laneway at the rear of Willbrook Park - takes steps to prepare a schedule of regular cleanups and maintenance of this lane way - which has become overgrown; fox-ridden and unsightly; that the Manager outline such a schedule to this Committee - and that this schedule of maintenance be followed until such time as the community aspect of the laneway is finalised to the satisfaction of the local residents and to the members of this Committee - who, for a number of years now have supported the right of the residents to access over this section of the laneway to develop a community garden dimension to the area."

REPORT:

The Council's Public Realm Maintenance Section will carry out work to cut back the overgrowth and clean up the laneway in question, following a request from the Development Department to do so.  This work will be carried out in the coming 2 to 3 weeks.  Further maintenance work will be planned for this laneway in accordance with the specific requirements of the area, and it is proposed that this will be best determined over a period of time commencing now and running into the Spring of 2014.
