MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

QUESTION NO. 11

QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"To ask the Manager to outline the priority list of estates in respect of traffic calming measures and to outline what plans the Roads Department has to carry out these measures in the forseeable future; and failing the implementation of traffic calming in specific estates what recourse to other measures do residents have (for example in Prospect Manor estate?)"

REPLY:

The traffic calming programme which commenced in 2003 was largely founded on a cell basis which in some cases comprised a number of residential estates. There are still a number of such areas which have been selected by the relevant area committee where traffic calming measures have yet to be installed.

Prospect Manor is included on a list of locations where traffic calming measures have been requested. While there is no current budget for the provision of further traffic calming measures the council is considering alternative options that may be available to address the issue of excessive speed.
