COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, November 12, 2013
MOTION NO. 9
MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"That the Manager spend a morning (8.15-9am) and afternoon (2.15-3pm) at the junction of Tara Hill estate and Grange Road and in StonePark Abbey Estate in Rathfarnham to monitor and report back to this Committee as to whether he/she is satisfied with traffic management in these areas and particularly the (i) safety of children and (ii) ability of residents to move freely into and out of their estates and to present a report on how significant issues relating to traffic movements at school drop off points can be addressed."
REPORT:
The relevant inspections have been undertaken. The location, in common with many others close to schools, has a shortfall of parking spaces relative to demand as parents seek to park to make school drop off and pick ups. This results in delay and inapproriate parking with consequent effect on local residents.
The parking issues would appear to require enforcement and will be referred to the Gardai for attention. The question of school time inconsiderate parking can be taken up with the school.
