That this Committee is of the view that the Council's present Housing Policy will not adequately address the need to provide a variety of supported housing options for older people, partly because of competing demands on limited Council resources and partly because of an absence of Government policy on the acknowledged sense of schemes to enable older people to continue to live , with necessary supports, in their own homes rather than move to the dependent environment of typical nursing homes, and requests the Manager to refer this policy issue to the Housing SPC for its consideration.

That the Manager have an examination of the Kennelsfort Road/Palmerstown Cemetery Road junction carried out with a view to alleviating the very severe traffic congestion that takes place there at certain times especially, but not only, on week-ends and that he report back to  this meeting with proposals for addressing the traffic situation at this point as a matter of urgency.  This junction is serving three housing estates, the Palmerstown Shopping Centre and Palmerstown Cemetery for which it appears to be now totally inadequate and cannot cope with the current levels of traffic thus resulting in a very dangerous situation should emergency vehicles need to get in or out of this area at certain times.
