"That this Committee requests the Manager to write to the Minister for Social Protection and the Minister of State with responsibility for the Office for Public Works, seeking updated information on measures being taken by the Department and the Office to identify a suitable premises for a Social Welfare Office to serve the Lucan area. The Committee asks the Manager to include in her letter references to previous correspondence between the Council and the Department of Social Protection on the matter (eg: the letter listed under Correspondence 7A, Corporate Services, at the June 2011 Lucan Area Committee meeting) in which the Department acknowledges the inconvenience experienced by Lucan residents with the current Social Welfare Office arrangements."

"That this Area Committee welcomes the granting of planning permission by an Bord Pleanala for the proposed Esker Educate Together school development at Esker Lane; notes that this decision will permit the development of the proposed new Parks Depot at Griffeen Valley Park (south of the railway) to proceed; and requests that the Manager to expedite this new Depot development and to further examine and outline how this development could be accompanied by works to the surrounding area of parkland, including provision of additional playing pitches as proposed in my previous motions."

"That this Committee notes that concerns have been expressed by residents about the safety of pedestrians, including schoolchildren, using the new pedestrian crossing at Griffeen Avenue, arising from vehicle drivers failing to slow down and stop as required by law, and to bring a report to the Committee on measures being implemented to increase awareness of drivers of the new crossing, and if the Council will request An Garda Siochana to monitor compliance by drivers with the obligation to stop when a pedestrian approaches the crossing, and to impose the appropriate sanctions on drivers who are breaking the speed limit at the location and/or failing to halt to allow pedestrians to cross safely."

i) To vary the zoning of the plot of land located between Lucan Educate Together NS & Fforster Square development, as outlined in red on the attached map from Objective A

(residential) to Objective F (open space);

ii) To insert the following specific local objective applying to this plot: “To provide for the development of a Community Garden by local schools and residents in line with Policy

SCR72”

The purpose of this amendment is to dezone a small amount of residential land for the provision of an amenity, as requested by the community, in an already built-up residential area."
