"That this Committee requests the Manager to note the Reports on Motions (8), (9) and (10 ) at the Lucan Area Committee meeting of 26th June 2012, regarding the possibility of bringing additional lands at Mill Lands, Palmerston, into public ownership, including the lands owned by Sun Chemicals and make an updated Report on the matter to the meeting, outlining any steps taken by the Council to pursue the acquisition of the lands, by the Council, or the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government or the Office of Public Works."

REPORT:

The Sun Chemicals property at Mill Lane, Palmerston is for sale at present and the Council's Valuer has been instructed in this regard.

The lands in question are within the area covered by the Liffey Valley Special Amenity Area Order and the Dublin County Council (Lucan Bridge to Palmerston) Special Amenity Order.

The acquisition of land by the Council requires the identification of, and access to, the required resoures.

A letter has issued to the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government notifying him of  motions agreed at a previous meeting of the Committee in relation to this matter.  A response is awaited.
