To ask the Manager to make the necessary provision for the issuing of a trading pitch/license at Palmerstown Cemetery.  This situation has been allowed drag on for many years now.  Clearly the visitors to the Cemetery support such a facility as they continue to patronise the vendor at this location and the Local Authority has a responsibility to restore the pitch which has been a means of livelihood to the trader for over 30 years now?

This Committee calls on the Manager, in light of ongoing complaints regarding anti social behaviour in Tymon Park, including the burning of Council property in the form of refuse bins, and while remaining cognisant of the financial cost to the Council and the hardship caused to local residents, to explore new ways of dealing with these issues including liaising with local Garda to put a stop to them without further delay.

That this Committee supports efforts being made to ensure that the residents of Adamstown have adequate community space and facilities available to them while they wait for the completion of their community facility.

That this Council would agree to write to the Ministers for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, and Education and Science to remonstrate about the ongoing cut-backs in Education, including in the Lucan/Clondalkin Area, that is affecting the quality of education of children, while at the same time there is no corresponding cut-backs in educating prisoners of this state, including in Portlaoise Prison, where in reply to a Parliamentary Question I requested to be tabled by Brian Hayes TD, the Minister of State has reported that the number of teachers engage in educating 113 prisoners is 19.64 (whole time equivalents) for the academic year 2009/10, and that this allocation is unchanged from previous years.

That this Committee supports the Board of Management, parents and staff of Esker Educate Together National School, in their efforts to secure a site in the Lucan area for the location of a permanent school, acknowledges that the current arrangement where the school occupies temporary accommodation in Adamstown Castle Educate Together NS will run into great difficulty from September 2010, and requests the Manager to write to the Minister for Education and Science urging him to acquire a suitable site for the school within the next 3 months.

That this Committee congratulate the Council workers for their good work over the Halloween period.  That Management provide a report on the preventative and clean-up work associated with Halloween 2009 in the Lucan/Clondalkin area, including the cost of each and that the matter be fully discussed so that we can learn from the experience to the benefit of future years.

That this Area Committee acknowledges the need for the Minister to expedite the negotiations urgently towards a bilateral agreement with Ethiopia so that adoption of Ethiopian children by Irish families can continue, and supports those Irish families who are already in the process of, and committed to adopting children from Ethiopia, and appreciates these families deserve assurances that they can complete their adoptions under the current system, which is in line with The Hague Secretariat’s “Guide to Good Practice”? Such an assurance will be of great relief to many Irish families who have already embarked on this adoption process, some for as long as five years.
