This Committee recommends that work would commence immediately on the project on the Old Nangor Road between the Mill Centre and Coláiste Chillian. Another school year has already commenced and the children attending the primary and Secondary school in the Coláiste Chillian campus are once again being asked to walk to school along a very dangerous road with no footpath. This committee cannot ignore this forseeable risk to the health and safety of those schoolchildren and all pedestrians at this location. The committee recommends that a timetable for the completion of the works be provided and that work would commence without delay.
This Committee recommends that any remains of the so called gateway features in Clondalkin be removed or modified.
That the Manager gives an update on works to alleviate the flood issue to rear gardens in Cappaghmore from the overflow stream alongside the canal bank.
This Committee resolves that the Council would engage with the owners of the six vacant and derelict properties in St Brigid's Cottages, (The Ranch), Naas Road, Clondalkin (Addresses supplied) to ensure that the problems associated with these derelict cottages would be addressed. The existence of such a high number of derelict properties in such a small scheme is having a serious effect on the quality of life of the remaining residents. There is serious littering and fly tipping in the gardens of the unoccupied properties; there is ongoing antisocial behaviour in the properties and their gardens; the gardens are in a terrible state, hideously overgrown with awful trees shading the whole area; an adjoining house is being affected by the damp and dereliction of one of the properties.
This Committee resolves that the council uses it's powers in relation to derelict properties to address this unacceptable situation.
That the Manager by way of a report to this Committee will outline what actions can and have been taken in relation to litter not being collected in private shopping centre car parks in the Clondalkin EA and what are the responsibilities of shopowners on this problematic issue?
