QUESTION NO. 9

QUESTION: Councillor T. Gilligan

To ask the Manager to repair the filter lights from the Slade Castle end onto the Main Street in Saggart?  At this junction the filter light is not working so cars cannot turn right onto Main Street in Saggart from Slade Castle

REPLY:

The traffic Signals at the Main Street Saggart Junction are operating as designed.  Side road queues and pedestrian access are addressed.

It should be noted that traffic within the junction is afforded time to clear the junction and complete their right turn manoeuvre during the ‘all red’ part of the sequence prior to opposing traffic starting.  The signals are vehicle activated whereby detectors installed in the road detect moving or stopped traffic.  It is only at the heavy traffic periods in the morning peak, such as around school drop-off, that the green filter arrow is activated.
