"That the Manager give a report on the serious situation that exists in Cherry Grove, Walkinstown in relation to the ongoing drainage problems which are causing severe flooding in rear gardens of residents' homes on an ongoing basis and stress to elderly residents who are unable to cope with clearing drains, sometimes monthly, and to ask the Manger to investigate the cause of this problem, which is also developing into a serious health hazard, and to find out where the blockage is occurring and carry out whatever remedial work is necessary."
Cathaoirleach's Business
That the Manager reports upon what progress has been made in putting in place the necessary arrangements I previously requested to allow for the provision of litter bins within housing estates where litter is generated due to schools, shops and sporting facilities being accessed through the estates.
Cathaoirleach's Business Councillor F. McCarthy
That this Committee requests that the Manager identifies suitable locations for the provision of sheltered accommodation for the elderly in Lucan, Palmerstown, Clondalkin and Newcastle-Lyons. It is desirable that people be enabled to continue living in their own communities through the appropriate provision of assistance where necessary.
That more and larger bins are provided at bring centres to cater for disposing of plastic bottles; on many occasions these bins are overflowing and people have to bring their bottles away.
That the Manager would report in detail on what works are scheduled, including time-scales for these works, to make all footpaths accessible for wheelchair users, disabled residents, senior citizens and parents pushing buggies. The dishing of all footpaths, which should have been carried out at construction stage, is now long overdue and is compromising the safety of many people, particularly Local Resident of Balgaddy.
That the Manager undertakes the programme of works as listed below, which was outlined 17 months ago.
The programme of works regarding facilities at Lynches Lane was as follows:
1. Initial survey and assessment of works needed : 2 – 3 weeks.
2. Design drawings and specification : 4 – 6 weeks.
3. Tender Production: 4 – 6 weeks 4. Tender Process 6 – 8 weeks.
"That the Manager contact the Orwell Park Residents Association to provide the necessary improvements in the large open space and to prepare a plan for its future development."
