“To ask the Manager to state his plans as part of the redevelopment in terms of additional apartment development on the area of land directly fronting on to the Tallaght By-Pass, if the existing footbridge will be renovated as part of this development, when will the construction begin, and the likely time for when this footbridge will not be able to be used by residents in the area, and what additional measures would be put in place to provide for pedestrian safety from the St. Dominic’s area through Tallaght Village, and if he will make a statement on the matter?”

That the Manager would consult with An Garda Síochana, Dublin Bus, the NRA, the Outer Ring Road and M50 contractors to devise improved traffic management arrangements.  These would include having Gardai on point duty for the Lucan area, including the Village and approach roads from the Woodies Bridge and the Adamstown Road for the period up to Christmas, to ameliorate to the maximum traffic congestion.

That this Committee congratulates the Manager and Roads Department on the completion of the section of the Outer Ring Road from Grange Castle to the junction with Griffeen Avenue.  This Committee requests that:-

(a) the traffic flow at the lights at Griffeen Avenue be monitored and appropriate adjustments be made to the sequencing of the signals to ensure the most efficient flow of traffic, in particular, right turning traffic approaching the junction on Griffeen Avenue from the west, and

(b) consideration be given to more visible signage on the Outer Ring Road approaching the Adamstown Roundabout from the south prohibiting HGVs from the final stretch of the Outer Ring Road into Lucan, and requesting An Garda Síochána to ensure regular policing of the prohibition.
