To ask the Manager to have all the new signs on the M50 and N4 checked  out to ensure that they are accurate and give ample and adaquate notice to drivers in relation to traffic lanes and that they do not contribute to dangerous and hazardous manoeuvres as quite a number of motorists have been observed reversing in traffic in order to switch to the lane (they shoud have been on) and to have the Irish version checked for accuracy and grammar?

To ask the Manager if there have been many complaints about the proposed new tagging system for refuse bins and if it is intended to provide a more comprehensive and detailed explanation to the public on how it is to operate.  Constituents have complained that the announcement was made without any consultation or without adequate explanation as to how it will operate and some people report that they did not get any confirmation (as promised) even though they put out their bin twice (when they did not get feedback as expected) as requested.  Can the Manager make a statement on the matter?

To ask the Manager if he will have regard to complaints from a number of areas about the advance information provided on measures recently taken to enforce some aspects of the bye-laws relating to the presentation of household waste, and if he will report on publicity measures planned to inform householders when any additional monitoring is to be implemented, particularly in regard to the allowed materials to be placed in the different types of bins?

To ask the Manager if he can provide comparative figures, for a number of local authorities including South Dublin, Fingal, Dublin City and Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown , for the amount of the Local Government Grant for 2009 per resident in the administrative areas of the local authorities, so as to enable members to assess the degree to which South Dublin is being treated, in terms of equity, compared to other cities and counties?

That the Manager write to the Minister for the Environment requesting that he set up a joint working group composed of representatives of both the elected members and management of South Dublin, Fingal, Kildare and Dublin City Councils, with the objective of actioning the recommendations of the EMS Report on the Liffey Valley (given that the OPW have indicated that they are not to coordinate the work of promoting a Liffey Valley National Park).

That this Council supports the demand of the Disability Federation of Ireland that the Government and the Health Services Executive provide adequate monies for the funding of disability and mental health services, specifically that the Government cancels the proposed 1% cut proposed in Budget 2009, that the HSE restore the 1% cut being implemented in 2008 and re-assign the €70 million redirected by it in 2007 and 2008 back to disability and mental health, and that the Government puts in place measures to ensure that the HSE cannot unilaterally remove disability and mental health funding allocated to it by Government, and requests the Manager to write to the Ministers for Finance and Health and Children and the Chief Executive Officer of the HSE conveying the views of this Council.
