"That this Council adopts a 'zero tolerance' approach to illegal signage from estate agents, 'cash for cars' peddlars and other law-breakers, including stricter enforcements of legal, date-specific event posters and to clarify whether it is legally possible for the Council to legally remove estate agent signs posted along roads adjoining estates, especially when some of the companies involved fail to remove signs even after warnings and/or fines have been issued.

That this Area Committee calls for the establishment of a Special Endeavour Award for Adult Literacy. The award could come in the form of an individual bursary or,ideally, as a financial assist to a local literacy service(s).

It could be run on the basis of a written piece by individuals availing of Adult Literacy Services in the County.

The award could be funded through the streams available to the Social and Community SPC specified for such purposes.

The Committee also respectfully suggests that the" Kieran Swords Adult Literacy Award" may be a suitable title for the award in acknowledgement of Kieran's high regard among Council staff and elected members, and the crucial role Libraries play in education and life long learning.
