QUESTION NO. 2

QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner

"To ask the Chief Executive could the Clondalkin men's Shed Group  use the container in Corkagh Park that was at one stage used by a local artist. It would appear to be an ideal base for them. They have been assured by the artist that she no longer uses the room. They have been told that a group from sruleen uses it. We have not been able to trace any such group. Could we have details of any groups that are currently using this facility.

If there are groups using it occasionally, would it be possible for the mens shed group to share the facility."

REPLY:

Following contact from an artist, the Council arranged to provide a converted container close to the depot in Corkagh Park to enable the artist to set up as the “Artist in Residence” in the Park in 2010.  This arrangement continued until approximately 3 years ago.

Subsequently, an application to use the container was received from other Clondalkin based artists, which resulted in a new arrangement being entered into with the Sruleen Art Group in 2013.

Discussions have recently been held with the group who are very keen to take up “residence” again this year on a 7 days per week basis.

Some minor maintenance works are currently being carried out to the container.  Upon completion of these works, the Sruleen Art Group will take up "residence" again.

As a result, the unit is not currently available for use by the Men’s Shed group.
