To ask the Chief Executive support is offered by South Dublin County Council to Irish emigrants who were forced by the economic crash to leave their country but are now unable to return due to the housing crisis.
To also ask if SDCC has engaged with or has plans to engage with Safe Home Ireland, an organisation that offers support to emigrants wishing to return home.
"To ask the Chief Executive to give a report on what plans the Council have had for the Esker between Moy Glas & Castleriada in the past and may have in the future. This report will include all past plans and the reason's they did not go ahead. This report will also include what plans the Council may have in the future for the Esker?"
"To ask the Chief Executive to give an update on the Public Realm Improvement Programme 2018 that was given to this committee in January. This report will give an update on all work that has been carried out so far and a start and finish date for work that has not been completed yet."

That this Area Committee requests that the Chief Executive arranges a site meeting with the residents of Glenvale Estate to see what work under current budgets, can be done by cutting back bushes and trees on the Lucan-Newlands Road. There had been anti-social behaviour in the area and by cleaning up the trees and scrubs this may help with the issues.
"To ask the Chief Executive to inform this Area Committee if any Part 8 exists on the open space between Tree Park Road and the Greenhills Road and Castletymon Road Junction, which is a direct pedestrian route to Tymon Park, Castletymon Road and local schools. Would he also indicate why this Part 8, if any, should impede the provision of a pedestrian footpath on this open space?"

"To ask the Chief Executive to provide an update on the proposed 2 play spaces for North Clondalkin and to provide an estimated timeline of tendering, construction and completion?"
"There are at present four infill housing projects due for completion in Tallaght, what percentage of them have been allocated to new tenants and what is the breakdown with regards to priority lists?"
"In view of the fact that Councillors are constantly getting requests from applicants on the Housing List, Transfer List etc, this Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive, in the interests of fairness, to inform all local Councillors when houses are allocated to applicants or when a transfer is under consideration."
"To ask the Chief Executive to provide an update regarding the new Castletymon Library. When is construction due to start and what time frame is expected for the Library to complete?"

Today is World Suicide Day. To mark this occasion this Council agrees to stand for a minutes silence for all the victims of suicide in this County and also acknowledges the tireless work put in by community based organisations that assist people with suicidal ideation, their families and the wider community.

This Council welcomes the decision of the Department of Housing and Dublin City Council to shift the funding model for the St Michael’s estate housing development from a private led to a fully publicly led model through loans from the European Investment Bank. This will ensure that the development of that site will be better placed to meet the social and affordable housing needs of the local community. We call on the Chief Executive to explore the use of this funding model for similar projects in South Dublin including on The Grange/Kilcarberry site in Clondalkin.
"That this Committee expresses its solidarity with housing activists engaged in direct action such as the occupation of vacant buildings to highlight the housing crisis. This Committee supports the demand by activists for the Compulsory Purchase of buildings that have been vacant for more than 12 months and calls on the management to immediately draw up a register of all vacant residential units in the Tallaght LEA to find suitable buildings for Compulsory Purchase by the council.”
This Council is deeply concerned with the imminent threat of closure of up to 390 Post Offices throughout the country and the threat to the long-term future of the remaining 690 Post Offices. This Council calls for the immediate suspension of the Post Office closures and that the Government enacts the Dáil Motion of the 11th November, 2016, passed by the Dáil - 158 Votes, which calls on the Government to:
“Implement a new community banking service operated by An Post to be made available in all post offices throughout the country; this post community bank could be based on either the New Zealand Kiwibank model or the German Sparkassen model, both of which have been found to be valid models;”
The results of this Council motion to be promptly conveyed to the Minister for Communications, Climate action and Environment and Deputy Hildegarde Naughton, Chair of Committee on Communications, Climate Action and Environment.
