That the Chief Executive examine the restoration of the former caretaker's house within Esker Cemetery, Lucan including identifying and applying for appropriate external funding and explore suitable future uses for the building which would respect its heritage and cemetery setting and bring this Council-owned asset back into beneficial use.

Mot (2)
Submitted by:
Councillor M. Johansson
Responsibility:
David Fennell

That the Chief Executive install public lighting on the path at the green between Abbeywood and Abbeydale estates. This path is used by residents as the main route to and from the shops and bus stops and many residents feel unsafe due to the lack of lighting in this location. NB. This issue was raised at the Local Community Safety Partnership but was deemed appropriate for the councillor rep to raise at ACM.

Mot (3)
Submitted by:
Councillor C. Brady
Responsibility:
Damien Wildes

That this Committee requests the Chief Executive to report on progress to date in delivering the sports changing room pavilion programme within the Lucan LEA, including the current status of the pavilion at Griffeen Valley Park, previously programmed for delivery in early Q1 2026. The report should also provide an outline programme, with indicative timelines, for the delivery of the remaining pavilion units within the LEA and set out the criteria by which locations will be prioritised. Given the continued absence of toilet and changing facilities at public park pitches used by our local clubs, this Committee further calls on the Chief Executive to prioritised Griffeen AGP and Willsbrook Park for the next phase of pavilion delivery.

Mot (4)
Submitted by:
Councillor H. Farrell
Responsibility:
Laurence Colleran

That the Manager provide a written progress report on my motion of 25 November 2025 regarding the upgrade of Lucan Skatepark, confirming the status of the €120,000 funding, user consultation undertaken or planned, proposed improvements or extensions, and a timetable with key milestones for design, approvals and construction, including anticipated completion dates and any outstanding obstacles to delivery.

Mot (5)
Submitted by:
Councillor D. Loftus

To ask the Manager to install 'Finding Charlie's Voice' communications boards in the newly enhanced Lucan Village Green and to investigate other locations across Palmerstown Fonthill LEA and Lucan LEA for installation.

Mot (6)

That this Committee calls on the Chief Executive to enhance security at the Airlie Park Astro facility, including the provision of higher perimeter fencing and more secure access arrangements, to protect this valuable community asset from unauthorised access and potential damage. The entrance lock has again been kicked off, and individuals continue to access the pitch by climbing over the boundary wall.

That this Area Committee requests an update on the recently reopened Promenade/Weir area in Lucan Village in particular the condition of the resin-style surface where cracking has become visible. Concerns regarding the surface have been raised by members of the public and the Committee requests clarification as to whether these cracks have been inspected whether they are considered defects and if any remedial works are planned.

Qu (6)
Submitted by:
Councillor L. O'Toole

To ask the Chief Executive provide an update on the current status and progress of the Lucan Access Study including its scope, objectives and anticipated timeline for completion. The report should clarify whether the study is focused solely on the existing and proposed road network or whether it also considers the wider transport infrastructure including rail services, future rail developments and the existing and proposed bus network. Given the significant ongoing and planned residential development across Lucan and surrounding areas it is essential that the study adopts an integrated approach examining how all transport networks connect and interact to ensure that future transport planning reflects the wider needs of the growing community.

That the Chief Executive provide an update on any plans South Dublin County Council has in place for Halloween events and activities in the Lucan area for 2026 particularly those aimed at young people and teenagers. Given that Halloween falls on a Saturday this year when many youth services and organisations may not be operating, can Management advise whether any collaboration has taken place with local youth and community organisations to provide activities on Halloween itself? While recognising the additional demands Halloween places on Council services particularly around bonfires and public safety could consideration also be given to planning ahead for Halloween 2027 which falls on a Sunday and exploring opportunities to work with local organisations to develop suitable activities and events for young people?

Motions

Mot (9)

Councillor L. O'Toole

That this Area Committee writes to and requests that the NTA/Go-Ahead be asked to include the L51 service at bus stop 2224 in Lucan noting that the L51 already passes directly by this stop and that the L52 currently serves it. Given that nearby stop 7774 serves both the L51 and L52 the Committee requests that this change be examined as a matter of urgency as it would provide a useful additional option for Lucan commuters travelling to Liffey Valley. A response should be provided to members as soon as possible including any actions or approvals required so that unnecessary delays in progressing this request can be avoided.

That the Chief Executive write to Iarnród Éireann and the NTA regarding the lack of QR code scanners at the ticket barriers in Adamstown Train Station which is causing ongoing difficulties for passengers using digital tickets. Concerns have been raised about passengers being unable to exit through locked barriers when staff are unavailable resulting in some climbing over barriers and creating potential safety and accessibility risks. Can Management request that immediate measures be put in place to ensure passengers can safely enter and exit the station and seek confirmation of any plans and timelines to install QR code scanning facilities?
