That this committee recommends that negotiations be opened up with the traders-shop owners - At Whitehall Road shops with a view to taking it in charge and upgrading it. i.e. the public footpath/parking area i.e. adjacent to the Pines Public House and all the shops in this shopping area. (a) It is dangerous for pedestrians and badly needs upgrade (b) It is a major focal point in the South Dublin area at the junction of major roads it is aesthetically unpleasing/to the eye the footpaths etc. lets the whole area down.

This neglect has led to the slow development of transient sites which will protect the environment from illegal encampments while supporting the nomadic tradition of the traveller community.
