That this committee recommends that negotiations be opened up with the traders-shop owners - At Whitehall Road shops with a view to taking it in charge and upgrading it. i.e. the public footpath/parking area i.e. adjacent to the Pines Public House and all the shops in this shopping area. (a) It is dangerous for pedestrians and badly needs upgrade (b) It is a major focal point in the South Dublin area at the junction of major roads it is aesthetically unpleasing/to the eye the footpaths etc. lets the whole area down.

That this Council endorses the recent developments in the North and sends goodwill to all those working the new institutions set up under the Good Friday Agreement.

That this Council is frustrated by the lack of support from other local authorities in developing the Traveller Accommodation plans and calls on the Minister to act on other local authorities which are neglecting this issue. This neglect has led to the slow development of transient sites which will protect the environment from illegal encampments while supporting the nomadic tradition of the traveller community.

That this Committee notes that construction work has begun on that part of The Paddocks development bounding on Meadowview Grove, and requests the Manager to provide an updated report on progress made to resolve the concerns of residents about the boundary treatment and the relative levels of the houses in Meadowview Grove and the houses in the new development?

That the Manager outline in detail the expenditure to date on eradication of grafitti, including any additional human resource costs; the effectiveness of the campaign; details of communications with relevant and associated agencies and utilities and to make a statement on this very serious matter.

That this Councillor be updated regarding queries made, as to what proposals are in train for the footpaths at Boot Road, in view of disparate responses received.
