That this Committee mindful of the energy costs of keeping the water-fountain at Watergate Park , operational on a 24 hour basis, requests the Manager to explore alternative methods of having this fountain operational , during the hours of daylight, in this the premier park in Tallaght.

That this Committee notes the content of the new Programme for Government which refers to the Lucan LUAS and Metro West as follows: Planning and design will continue on Metro West and the Bray, Lucan and Cross-city LUAS lines with a view to earliest possible delivery”, is concerned with the absence of any reference to a start date for the two projects, and requests the Manager to write to the Minister for Transport seeking detailed information on the schedule for Lucan LUAS and Metro West, including proposed start dates for construction works.

1. To ask the Council that it would consider securing the close environs of the changing rooms with a fence similar to the nearby premises on Bunting Road in order to prevent vandalism and graffiti.

2. Would the Council make a decision as to the future of the defunct 35 year idle playground and would it install paybars or exercise bars for children/adults on the site . Alternatively to cover it in and make a flowerbed of same.

3. Research the need for a basketball court where according to residents no team has ever played the game since its inception.

4. In the interim to remove the graffiti (some of it of an obscene nature) from the pavillion.

That this Committee is disappointed with the absence of any commitment to the provision of sports facilities in the new Programme for Government, deems as inadequate the statement: "Complete a new Strategy for the provision of sports facilities and its submission to Government for approval”, notes that there is no commitment to Government support for Community Swimming Pools and requests the Manager to write to Minister Martin Cullen recommending that that support for swimming pools be included in the new strategy, so that the Council can apply for a Government contribution to the Lucan Swimming Pool project.

That this Committee congratulates the Manager and all of the staff involved in implementing the RUA RED County Arts Centre project, requests the Manager to ask the RUA RED management to consider using Ballyowen Castle Community Centre as an "outreach centre" for RED RUA exhibitions (as is being done for the current Bog Exhibition of Prints in RUA RED and Tallaght Hospital), and also examining the possibility of RUA RED exhibitions, or parts of exhibitions, being moved on from there to other suitable venues in the County, including Ballyowen Castle Community Centre.

Further to the reply to my question at the September Area Committee meeting, that this Committee requests the Manager to provide a updated report for discussion on the planned provision of Community Centre at Palmerstown Shopping Centre including a report on the latest meeting between the Council and developer which was planned for late September.

That this Committee requests the Manager to present a detailed report, for discussion, on the Council's efforts under the current County Litter Management Plan to promote and facilitate a greater level of structured cross-community involvement in tackling litter problems and seeking to improve the visual appearance of our neighbourhoods in the Lucan and Clondalkin electoral areas, in particular in those areas without existing ‘Tidy Towns’ groups.

That the Manager would present a detailed report for discussion on the proposed new premises for the Bawnogue Youth & Family Support Group, including a specific time-scale, and that these new premises will be in a suitable location. Further, that this Area Committee supports the invaluable work of the Bawnogue Youth and Family Support Group, and recognises the successful efforts being made on a daily basis to provide essential support services in the community.
