MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (1)
Monday, March 15, 2010
QUESTION NO. 8
QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr
"To ask the Manager to report on any outstanding issues with the new waste collection system within the Tallaght area?"
REPLY:
The main areas still being addressed in respect of the exclsuive operation of the advance credit system are as follows:
- Registration/Scanning of bins - there are four categories being addressed in relation to this: customers without bins associated to their account; identified bins not associated to specific accounts; reported faulty chips in bins. Dedicated staff and contractors are tackling these issues systematically based on database information and customer requests. Over 4,700 bins have been registered/scanned/re-chipped as necessary.
- Replacement cards - customers have requested replacement cards in numbers far greater than anticipated due to lost, mislaid cards, non-receipt etc. Over 9,000 replacement cards have been issued to date.
- Miscellaneous issues - there are some minor operational issues relating to the system operation as Customers and Staff adjust to the new system. These issues are minor and are dealt with as they arise.
