To ask the Manager, following the completion of excavation works at Newcastle Road in the vicinity of the Hillcrest Road junction and St. Patrick's Church, Lucan to implement a programme of much-needed footpath repair and restoration in this immediate area, in particular in front of the houses located between Superquinn and Hillcrest Road junction, including measures to prevent both the ponding of rainwater and water-runoff in to the front gardens of those houses below road level?

To ask the Manager responsible when it is intended to adjust the Kennelsfort Road / Cold Cut junction and to synchronise the traffic lights at this junction, Cloverhill junction and Liffey Valley Junction so as to give a better traffic flow on Kennelsfort Road Upper (as promised would be done once the N4 upgrade was completed)?

That this Committee welcomes the bus route changes announced as part of phase 1 of Dublin Bus’s new ‘Network Direct’ plan which will mean more direct and faster journeys from the Lucan South and Adamstown areas to the city centre; however this Committee requests Dublin Bus to :

  • Retain a direct morning 25X service from Newcastle Road/Hillcrest via the N4 (avoiding Lucan South);
  • Retain Adamstown as terminus for the 151 service and to partially reroute the 151 to serve the Balgaddy area;
  • Continue with further bus route reforms including greater connectivity between Lucan Village and Lucan South.

To ask the Manager to address concerns raised by residents of Hillcrest Estate, Lucan regarding the following landscaping matters:

  • The need for a more comprehensive tree-pruning programme across the entire of the estate;
  • The need to remove litter from the hedging around the large triangular green space south of Hillcrest Heights including the hedging forming a common boundary with the Paddocks;
  • Proposals to install a flower planting bed around the name-stone at the Newcastle Road junction.

To ask the Manager when is it intended to secure the “kissing gate” entrance from Riversdale Estate to Waterstown Park and to block-off other entrances used by bikers and quads to gain access to the Park making it highly dangerous for other Park users and to report on the present situation of security in the park?

That this Committee calls on the Manager to arrange for the installation of a yellow box and a flashing “children crossing” sign at the junction of Wainsfort Grove and College Drive. Exiting from Wainfort Grove onto College Drive is dangerous because of the difficulty in seeing traffic on College Drive due to a bend in the road. This has been exacerbated since the opening of the Daisy Chain Montessori school and crèche in the area.

That this Committee requests the Manager to present a detailed report, for discussion, on the matters considered by the planning authority in deciding to refuse permission for and/or pursue planning enforcement proceedings against residents of Oakcourt Drive and Oakcourt Grove, Palmerstown who have sought to extend their rear garden boundary walls to enclose areas of land recently purchased adjoining the rear laneway.
