That this Committee requests that the balustrading to Lucan bridge be repaired and repainted in accordance with recommendations of the National Tidy Towns 2010 adjudication report.
This Council in recognition of the recent CSO figures and the difficulties that a significant percentage of clients have in relation to literacy, agrees to take a more proactive and inclusive approach in consultation with groups like NALA (National Adult Literacy Agency) and calls on the Manager to do a root and branch review of Council application forms in order to simplify and help those with ongoing difficulties accessing council services.

That this Committee review the methods of assessment used by this Council in considering requests for the installation of Signalised Pedestrian Crossings on the existing road network and to request specifically that this review examines the need for a more strategic approach to the assessment of requests relating to roads in the vicinity of schools and shops, where the proposed provision of a new Signalised Pedestrian Crossing could reliably be expected to increase the level of pedestrian activity in that area and in particular to increase the numbers of children (and parents) walking to school."

That the Manager would set out at the October 2010 Road's Department Area Committee Meeting 1, the steps to be made in the immediate future to introduce the New Heavy Goods Vehicle School-Time Restriction for the Newcastle Road, Lucan, in keeping with this Council's new policy, as adopted by way of my motion and now included in the County Development Plan 2010-2016, that "It is the policy of this Council to introduce a School-Time Heavy Goods Vehicles Restriction on the Newcastle Road, Lucan. Whilst the enforcement of this measure is a matter for the Gardaí, this Council is by way of policy, considering the safety of all concerned, including school-going children."
