That all necessary procedures be initiated with a view to revising the 50kph speed limit on Firhouse Road to 60kph, given the fact that the road is generally frontage free, is to a high standard, and an adjoining road (Spawell Bridge) is 60kph.
REPORT:
This matter will be examined in the context of the 2011 Speed Limit Review. However, it should be noted that there is considerable interaction from vulnerable road users at a number of locations along the route including where there are a number of pedestrian crossings, bus stops, ramps at schools ( where 50kph is required). In any event the the time savings achieved along this 3.25 kilometer stretch from Oldbawn to Spawell Bridge by increasing the speed limit to 60 kph would be of the order of 4 seconds.
