QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor T. Delaney

To thank the Manager and staff for the wonderful and hugely successful Christmas event recently held in Corkagh Park which apart from being greatly entertaining also showcased the park and facilities in all its splendour.

REPLY:

The ‘Christmas in Corkagh’ event which took place on Sunday 19th December last in Corkagh Park was a great success with over 5000 people attending. Over 2000 children got to meet Santa and experience the Narnia themed Winter Wonderland Trail. Admission to the event was free and attractions included a live reindeer, concert band, nail and face painting, free horse rides, X Factor show, refreshment stands and visits to the pet farm. All the Park's Department staff who worked on the day at the event did so on a voluntary basis. This event forms part of a programme of activities organised by the Park's Department in Corkagh Park throughout the year and it is hoped to be able to run a similar event next Christmas.
