That this Area Committee asks the Chief Executive to examine the provision of an accessible gym/ outdoor strength-training facility in Newcastle, comparable to the recently installed facility in Rathcoole Park, and to consider including the proposal in the 2027 Public Realm Improvement Works Programme, taking into account Newcastle's significant population growth and the current lack of a comparable local exercise facility.
To ask the Chief Executive what options are available to SDCC if private green space land identified for taking in charge as part of a developer's construction of new homes in the RTFB area has not been completed by the developer, if SDCC may demand that the developer completes the taking in charge process, as SDCC's claim over the land is recorded with the Land Registry but the taking in charge application has not been completed? The section of land and taking in charge dates back to 1980s.
That this Area Committee asks the Chief Executive to examine the provision of an accessible gym/outdoor strength-training facility in Newcastle, comparable to the recent installation in Rathcoole Park, and to include the proposal in the draft Public Realm Improvement Works Programme for 2027, having regard to Newcastle's rapid population growth and the absence of any equivalent local gym facility.

That this Area Committee requests that South Dublin County Council prioritise the delivery of a safe, connected, and practical walking and cycling route between Newcastle, Rathcoole Main Street, Saggart and Garter Lane, with particular consideration given to a route via Tay Lane. This proposal should be considered as part of the Council's wider Active Travel and School Safety programme, and should also be aligned with relevant road safety, public realm, greenway, climate action and amenity funding streams.
That the Manager refuse the licence application No. S25426/08 for a section 254 licence for an 18 meter telco pole and ground utility cabinet at the green space between Marian road and Butterfield Close, Rathfarnham, D.14. The area is well served with new fibre served by Eir, Virgin and Vodafone networks, 3 Mobile should share the existing poles in the Rathfarnham area. Also, the area for the pole and cabinet are public spaces and not for commercial use. There would be blocking of walking routes and encourage anti-social behaviour allowing the climbing of the cabinet onto garden walls.
To ask the Chief Executive to provide an update on plans to renovate the old swimming pool in Clondalkin, both the Clondalkin Youth Band and Clondalkin Pipe Band are still without permanent facilities and this renovation will provide the much needed space for both these bands along with other groups in the village.
That this Area Committee requests the Council to identify a suitable route in Rathcoole for a new Parkrun, and to provide the necessary supports, including access to Council lands and facilities, to enable its establishment.
