That this Committee calls upon the Council to insist as a matter of urgency that the Gardaí and the relevant Ministers are requested to put in place the necessary resources to provide Gardaí on point duty at all major junctions in the Lucan, Palmerstown and Clondalkin areas at peak traffic times all year round until such time as the chronic traffic situation is alleviated to an acceptable extent.

That this Committee calls upon the Manager to contact Fingal County Council immediately and to insist upon the immediate opening of the Laraghcon Road given the massive traffic problems being caused in Lucan as a result of their failure to ensure its opening.

That this Council recommends that we make representation to the Colombian Ambassador in London to ensure that the  military rescue operation proposed by President Uribe  to rescue hostages held by FARC be cancelled.  Mindful of the fact that FARC leaders have ordered their men to execute hostages in such a rescue operation, by proceeding in this way, it is imposing a death sentence on the hostages one of whom includes Ingrid Betancourt on whom we have bestowed the Freedom of the County of South Dublin.

"To ask the Manager to provide a pedestrian crossing at somewhere between the junction of Dodder Park Road and the county boundary adjacent to to Ely Gate....I raised this at a recent traffic study group that perhaps a "refuge" would suffice, however, since then I have been contacted by numerous residents who have complained about the danger in crossing the road and the absence of a pedestrian facility for almost a mile?"
