That this Committee calls on the Manager to compel the Department of Education to reinstate to its original condition the boundary of lands owned by them in the vicinity of Coolamber Drive and Stoney Lane in Rathcoole, that this Committee acknowledges the negative impact of this fencing on the residential amenity in this area and the acute danger that the current insuffient boundary represents to residents in the area in particular children, who now have easy access to this land through they ugly and inadequate fencing that is currently at Coolamber Drive and non-existing boundary treatment at Stoney Lane.

"That this committee discusses the McHugh's ex-shopping centre site - it is now a derelict site for some time. That the Manager initiate the CPO on this site as agreed previously as development of this site is obviously not taking place and the local community cannot be left without shops, Post office and local facilities that were there previoiusly. I was informed previously that building was to start over 3 months ago. If a housing estate of of 3000 houses were developed today without shops or any facilities there would be outcry and rightly so."

Would the Manager report on the meeting of 11th March 2008 with the Department of Education and Science, and on what progress is being made to determine the precise location of this school in the interest of accessibility for the existing residents in the south Lucan area, the proposed capacity of the school in the interest of ensuring that there is sufficient capacity to cater for the existing and future needs of the local community in the South Lucan area, and what is the time-scale for the delivery of the school in the interest of ensuring the delivery of this new second level school as soon as possible.
