That the Manager would present a report for discussion on management of traffic in the vicinity of the Superquinn Shopping Centre, the entrance to Hillcrest Estate and the N4 overbridge leading to Lucan Village, the report to include information on the operational status of the MOVA system controlling traffic signals from the lights at the Superquinn Centre to the centre of Lucan village, if it is now being operated fully automatically. Will the Manager also advise if any measures have been taken to address reported increased traffic back-up into Hillcrest Estate after the new traffic signal system was working well in its early phase of operation.

That this Council recommends that South Dublin county Council signs up to the The Covenant of Mayors which is a commitment by signatory towns and cities and counties to go beyond the objectives of EU energy policy in terms of reduction in CO2 emissions through enhanced energy efficiency and cleaner energy production and use.

To ask the Manager if there has been any progress in identifying potential suitable work through which the Council could participate in the FAS Work Placement Programme, and if the matter has been explored with the Trades Unions and if he will make a statement on the matter?

That this Council contacts the Department of Environment & Local Government and asks them how much money is granted to the NRA from the Government?  From the government through the National Development Plan? From the EU?  In general how much money do they get for free?  Is it a case that the NRA should be abolished and its functions brought back under the Department of Transport?

To ask the Manager that the site next to 84, Culmore Road, Palmerstown (recently granted planning permission for one residence) be examined with a view to declaring it a derelict site? That the owners be contacted and compelled to erect a secure fence to the rear where it meets the laneway to the rear of Culmore Road? Since the closure of the opening with Glenaulin Park at this location, it is being used as the route for undesirable persons passing between the Californian Hills on the City Council side and the laneway on South Dublin County side, and that a report be brought to the November meeting of this Committee on the situation and the results of the action taken.
