That, in view of the cancellation of the Oral Hearing on the proposed Metro West Project, and the statement by Minister Varadkar that funding for the proposed project is unlikely to be available within the next 15 years, this Council requests the Manager to begin the process to cancel the Section 49 Development Levy adopted by the Council for this infrastructure project, and to arrange for the return of any associated Development Levies already paid to the Council.
To ask the Manager to report on the scope of support, in terms of finances, land and other resources, under the Play Policy and other Council policies for small-scale playgrounds and/or MUGA's to be provided by community organisations in the South Dublin area, and to make a statement on the matter.
This Council, dismayed and alarmed at the recent suggestions that further tolls should be introduced along the M50 which would this be a further burden on the business community and families and would also lead to further congestion on the already overtaxed road network across a very significant range of South Dublin County communities, totally rejects any further tolling of the M50 within this County and requests that the Manager so inform the Minister and use every opportunity to oppose such a scheme.
That the Council considers the merits of pilotting a roof/rain water harvesting project in the county utilising housing from the Social Housing Stock for this purpose
That the Manager once again makes a submission to the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, requesting that South Dublin County Council be treated, in the matter of its allocation from the Local Government Fund in the 2012 Budget, in a manner that is equitable with comparable Local Authorities, especially Fingal and Dun Laoire Rathdown County Councils, ie that the Local Government Fund Grant per head of population is at least at the same level as that of Fingal CC, and that the submission, with an appropriate covering letter be sent to all Dail Deputies in the constituencies of Dublin Mid-West, Dublin South West and Dublin South.
That the Manager write to Greyhound, waste management company asking that the Black and Brown Bins be collected (within say two weeks) from householders who reside within Tallaght south area who have indicated that they have switched to another provider. Many householders complain that they find it impossible to get Greyhound to remove these bins and surely this is in breach of the terms of sale under which they bought the service from South Dublin County Council.
To ask the Manager to outline preparation measures for dealing with any adverse road conditions, such as ice and snow, during the winter months?
Letter, dated 21st September 2011, from Clare County Council regarding GAA games on US television
That the Manager provides a full report on Creative Village with particular emphasis on how this project is being promoted and how ideas can be brought forward by businesses and members of the public.
That this Council calls on both the Manager and Dublin Fire Brigade to carry-out an independent and transparent fire services risk assessment for all areas of our county to identify priority service improvements needed given the very serious concerns that exist over the excessive journey-times for responding fire services to reach highly-populated areas of our county furthest away from existing fire stations.

That this Council prioritises the drafting of an updated Play Policy and Five Year Playground Programme and for this revised policy to reflect the need to install playgrounds in Lucan, Palmerstown and Rathcoole.
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That the Manager again looks at the rain water drainage which has caused flooding at the back yard of 61 Pearse Brother Park. The drain at 61 Pearse Brother Park is a feeder drain for the rows of 10 houses at the rear and 14 house along side. There is an inspection manhole at the green area at the side of the bike repair shop but none at the front where three drains meet.
Could an inspection manhole be installed at this junction? This would allow the owner to ascertain which section of drain is blocked."
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That the Manager agrees to the request from the Butterfield and district residents’ association to have more bollards placed on the green area at the entrance to Rosemount Shopping center. The residents are willing to pay for cost of the bollards."
"That the laneway at the side of house 1 Fonthill Abbey be maintained by the Parks Department there is over grown grass/weeds and some rubbish."
"That the Manager agrees to the request from Palmer Park/Pearse Brothers Park residents association for a supply of grit for the two hills at Palmer Park/Pearse Brother Park."
That this Council ring fence the dividend due to be paid to South Dublin County Council from Irish Public Bodies Board believed to amount to close 200,000 euro and transfer this monies to the Housing Maintenance Budget to be used to upgrade interiors at Pearse Brother/Palmer Park Flats Ballyboden which have not been upgraded since the 1950s.
That this council, noting the announcement by Transport Minister Leo Varadkar that the oral hearing for Metro West has been deferred and that Metro West is unlikely to be built in the foreseeable future; hereby resolves to revoke the Section 49 Metro West Supplementary Development Contribution Scheme and to further refund all moneys collected to date under the Metro West scheme.
That South Dublin County Council, exercises its right under the Presidential Act, 1993, section 16, to nominate Senator David Norris to be a candidate for the Presidential Election to be held on the 27th October 2011
