QUESTION NO. 21
QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
To ask the Manager if he will advise on the number of Planning Applications received for the erection of Windmills for the generation of electricity in the County, the number of Permissions granted and the number of commencement notices received in the period since January 2009?
REPLY:
Since January 2009, three planning applications as follows have been received for the erection of wind turbines in South Dublin County;
To date two of these applications have been granted planning permission (SD11B/0210 and SD09A/0018).
Both of these permissions relate to wind turbines located on sites of dwelling houses. SD09A/0018 was appealed to An Bord Pleanala; the decision of the Planning Authority was upheld. A decision on the third application (SD11A/0240 – wind turbine located on an industrial site) has not been reached to date, a decision on this application is due at the end November 2011.
Commencement notices have not been lodged in respect of any of the above developments.
