That more radial bus routes across the county would be promoted so that links to Tallaght hospital, ITT and to National University Maynooth would be made from all parts of the county.
The County Development Plan will promote better policies and services for older generation.
That this Council directs the Chief Executive to review and extend the Village Initiative and extend this plan to shop clusters around churches and within housing estates and that there would be a review of the Ballyboden Village Plan.
That the County Development plan mitigates against the impact of the continued potentially rapid growth of Dublin on the quality of life within existing and future communities and in particular issues associated with over-development and traffic.
The County Development plan will promote participation by local community groups and residents to become involved in cleaner communities campaigns, Furthermore, will support those involved by committing to providing the adequate resources needed for such initiatives.
That a huge strength of the County is existence of so many well established communities and that future development seeks to lean on this strength.
The County Development plan will recognise the importance of young voices in matters that affects their lives. Therefore, will give young people the opportunity to engage and participate in any future economic and social policies.
policy 2.5.9. of the 2010- 2016 Development plan envisaged having a deep geothermal pilot demonstration project in place by the end of the plan period.
This has not happened. The new development plan should include a realistic proposal to make this happen.
The County Development plan will commit to improve the physical appearance of already existing communities before any further development of infills.
Environment: Tidy Towns
That the Council would redouble its efforts to support existing tidy towns groups and would continue to encourage communities to set up new groups to enhance and improve their local environment.
Environment / Tourism: Dublin Mountain Way
That transport links would be provided to and from various points of the excellent Dublin Mountain Way so that people might be encouraged to use this excellent facility.
That this Council directs the Chief Executive around areas of historical importance, such as Rathfarnham Castle and St. Enda’s Park that the old style granite rubble walls are used where possible in place of standard concrete walls and where existing walls are being replaced that this policy be implemented going forward.
That this Council direct the Chief Executive, maintain the zoning of the parklands around Ellensborough and Knocklyon Park and that the full development and completion of this parkland be achieved within the lifetime of this development plan, that provision be made to incorporate facilities for older teenage children, through the use of BMX /skate track facilities, similar to that of Bushy Park. That such parks be developed to support playing pitches and running tracks and that more parklands be zoned for this use. That the development plan would promote and facilitate a more active and healthy lifestyle by the use of such recreation and sport facilities.
Environment: Recycling areas and bring banks
That bottle banks and recycling banks for other materials including cardboard, plastic bottles and clothes would be located across the county so that they are easily accessible to all citizens and not just to those who drive cars.
That this Council directs the Chief Executive to ensure that there be a mix of house types and sizes to accommodate a greater age profile within such estates, that such a plan would cater for older residents who wish to downsize, without having to move outside their local area and younger people buying their first homes. The mix of houses types ought to include bungalow style to suit lifestyle changes and a likely demand for ground floor living. In so doing, the Chief Executive would facility the desired best practice of allowing older people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. That the Chief Executive include in the Development Plan that this Council will no longer grant planning for one bedroomed style accommodation.
That this Council inserts a specific objective in the Development plan to provide at least four clear charging spaces for electric vehicles in each electoral area.
That this Council directs the Chief Executive have regard to the Ballycullen/Oldcourt Local Area Plan in all respects, with particular emphases on the reduced housing density, that the current restriction on building above the contour line be maintained, that the phased development would dictate that community centres be in place before the housing development commences, with tighter controls over Part V. That LAPs to extend to the entire county.
That this Council direct that the Chief Executive, in rezoning additional land especially around the Ballycullen/Oldcourt area allow for the development of land for use as business/technical/pharma/industrial estates, thereby increasing employment opportunities within the locality and providing this Council will a long-term revenue stream.
Heritage - Built Heritage
That the rich built heritage of our county would be protected, conserved and celebrated with carefully designed visitor centres to assist in educating citizens of the county and tourists about our architectural and cultural heritage.
The this Council directs the Chief Executive to have specific regard to tourism, that a specific policy to emphasise and promote the historical importance of Hellfire Club be included in the Development Plan. Up until about 20 years ago the Hellfire Club was visible from several parts of Rathfarnham but owing to overgrowth of trees this protected structure is no longer visible. That a specific programme be implemented over the course of this Development Plan to reduce the height of trees along this route, so as to allow this importance historical site to be given better prominence within the County and in particular within Rathfarnham.
