During the massive struggle that has been waged by ex- Debenhams workers across the companies 11 stores in Ireland the deficit of workers protection in liquidations has again been sharply exposed. This Council calls for the immediate implementation of the Duffy/Cahill Report, compiled in 2016 in the aftermath of The Clerys dispute- as one way of strengthening workers rights and tackling the legal outs provided to major corporations who engage in tactical liquidations in order to avoid their obligations under hard won workers’ rights. If passed this Council communicates such in writing to Government, to all Local Authorities and to the ICTU offering its support for implementation.
To ask the chief executive for an update on the planned maintenance works, including painting, on council owned homes in Balgaddy and if there is an agreed start and finish date for same.

Under the section on Climate Action and Energy to add the following sentence: Ensure that high employment density development is prioritised and promoted in line with the compact growth strategy.

In the section on Built environment and Placemaking to amend the following line: "Promote a high standard of building and urban design, creating public spaces that are distinctive, safe and accessible and facilitate social and cultural diversity and interaction." To: "Promote the highest possible standard of building and urban design, creating public spaces that are distinctive, safe and accessible and facilitate social and cultural diversity and interaction."
Motion 3: To add the following In the section on Population Growth and Housing to amend the following section as outlined: 'Promote compact growth in line with the NPF and RSES through the inclusion of specific policies and targeted and measurable implementation measures that: o encourage infill / brownfield development o focus growth on the County's designated strategic development areas and o if necessary, provides for the use of Compulsory Purchase Orders to achieve this.'
Under the section Population Growth and Housing to add the following sentence: 'Prioritise the provision of social and affordable housing in the county based on need as identified by the current social housing waiting list, and expressions of interest for affordable housing.'
In the section under Overarching strategic direction, to amend the following line 'Include climate action as an overarching and cross-cutting theme across the Draft Plan in line with policies and objectives contained in the NPF, the RSES, South Dublin's Climate Change Action Plan 2019-2024 and national legislation.' To: 'Include climate action as an overarching and cross-cutting theme across the Draft Plan in line with, and where feasible beyond, policies and objectives contained in the NPF, the RSES, South Dublin's Climate Change Action Plan 2019-2024 and national legislation. The plan will aim to provide measures towards making South Dublin County's transition to being a low carbon society."
