Question

Councillor L. Whelan
Responsibility:

"To ask if there is any indication when the road into Citywest Village Avenue, just off the Citywest Drive road (pictures included), will be opened for use? The road has been closed off for roughly two years, as a result people began to use it as a de facto pedestrian access by removing and/or walking over the fences that were put up. People use the access as it leads directly to the Citywest Campus Luas stop. However it has been fenced again. Can an update be provided on this area?"

To ask the Chief Executive if it is correct to state that upon receipt of either HAP approval or a council house, that ones income can rise indefinitely beyond the limits for eligibility for housing supports, however if one is in receipt of HAP and then applies for a council house via CBL, ones income must be below the income threshold for housing supports in order to make a successful application, the implication being that if one is in receipt of HAP and wishes to eventually obtain a council house, ones income must remain below the eligibility threshold?

That the Council carries out a cleansing, litter picking and enforcement blitz along the public walkways, roadways and verges indicated in the attached map, with a particular focus on clearing embedded dog dirt, tidying up dumped material and litter blown into blackspots and identifying new areas for bins. Notwithstanding that all parts of our county have problems brought to our attention, a considerable number of complaints have come in at the same time in relation to these approach roads to several local schools and a focused approach, along with a visible presence for a period may assist in improving the area for local residents, many of whom do regular clean-ups in their immediate vicinities, but who cannot cover the entire space.
