"That this committee recommends that the long awaited funding for the realignment of the Knocklyon Road be made available immediately – as this project is on the books of SDCC for the past 30 odd years, and to the best of my knowledge & research no other project in the COUNTY has such a long history of neglect – or long-fingering. To acknowledge that genuine expectations were fulfilled in the execution of the part 8 procedure in 2008 after many years of waiting and that this committee recommends there is no way that this project can be delayed any longer. "That this committee recommends that a lollipop person be appointed immediately for the Whitechurch Road adjacent to Willbrook – pedestrian lights have been recommended in the recent consultants report – therefore in the interim logic would suggest/ & also a child being knocked down there recently - that a lollipop is very necessary in the interim period. It is acknowledged that it will take time to get the pedestrian lights/traffic calming etc. on the ground following the part 8 procedure currently underway. We are encouraging children to walk to school for health reasons not to mention traffic congestion; reduction of C02; and reaching our Kyoto target. Parents are currently driving their children short distances for safety reasons – 4 good reasons for facilitating this request – the most important being the safety of the children."
