Would the Council consider in light of complaints regarding the 'kissing gates' at the Grand Canal cycleway which inhibit the cyclist's journey (who at the moment is required to dismount at several gates) that at peak times in the morning and evening, the large barriers are opened on weekdays to allow a free flow of cycling for those wishing to commute to and from work and that the barriers be closed again at night time by either Council staff or a security firm?
That this Council agrees to introduce a Freefone 1800 Litter Line Number to facilitate the public in contacting the Council to report illegal dumping. This new initiative is in response to the growing environmental issues, including increased dumping and fly-tipping, and will encourage and facilitate more residents to support this Councils efforts to resolve this menace, including providing additional support to the work of our litter wardens throughout South Dublin. Further the public launching of this project will give new hope to the residents of this county for a cleaner environment to the future.

"To ask the Manager to consider erecting road signs on the Greenhills Road reminding motorists of the new cycle lane?"
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That this Committee recommends that (a) an inspection be undertaken by our Parks Department to ascertain what trees should be replaced (following works undertaken) by Dubln City Council at DCC reservoir area Stocking lane and (b) following inspection that a letter be written to Dublin City Council asking them to replace the many trees chopped down at the boundary area between the Stocking Lane reservoir and Air Park estate where there used to be dense tree line. Necessary not only for visual and aesthetic grounds but on environmental grounds tree replacement should be mandatory."
"To ask the Manager, following recent complaints in the last few months in the Cherryfield Avenue/Beechfield Park and Perrystown areas concerning grass cutting in public spaces and the reported unsatisfactory performance of same by the Council, to initiate a quality control/supervision measure to ensure that the grass is cut in time for important football matches and ensure that they are not partially cut in the case of other public green spaces in these areas ?"
That the Manager arranges to have the clay mound on the Foxdene/Tór an Rí side of the wall separating the Estates from the Adamstown Link Road removed.
"To ask the Council to erect a 'no Dumping' sign in Cherryfield on a wall at a noted blackspot at the end of the lane behind Cherryfield Road facing Beechfield Park ?"
"To ask the Manager to cut back and in half the hedgerow at Perrystown to facilitate passing Garda patrol vehicles monitoring the area (similar to that carried out at Beechfield Park nearby) in order to prevent existing anti-social behaviour?"
What plans are currrently in operation to save the Council expending the wasteful amounts (€400,000 last year) deployed in the clean up after Hallowe'en and will the Council deploy extra staff to remove noxious items such as bedding, settees and motor vehicle tyres in advance of the event?
That this Council agrees to establish a joint working body between the Garda Síochána and the Council to protect public open spaces from public alcohol drinking (especially at night time) and its accompanying litter and public order instances.
