That this Area Committee: NOTING that in the period 2007-2011 only 0.18% of the total capital expenditure by the Community Services Department was invested in Lucan despite the fact that according to the latest census the population increase in Lucan in the same period was more than twice that in the remainder of the county; FURTHER NOTING the need to ensure that sporting and recreational facilities, including the Lucan Sports and Leisure Centre, are operated on a financially sustainable basis, REQUESTS the Manager to examine my proposal (which I first introduced during discussions on my motion on boxing clubs at the March meeting) to provide an extension to the Lucan Sports and Leisure Centre to include additional floor space, both dedicated and multi-functional, for use by sports and recreation groups including in particular local boxing clubs and dance and fitness groups; and to seek to progress this proposed project for inclusion in the next Rolling Capital Programme.

"That this Area Committee requests the Manager to engage with CPLN Area Partnership, Co. Dublin VEC, the County Enterprise Board & Enterprise Ireland to examine options for the provision of an Enterprise Centre and ‘jobs hub’ in the Lucan South/Adamstown area, in including through the leasing of currently vacant premises, for the purpose of initially providing physical space such as 'hot-desks' (and at later stage 'incubator units 'for business start-ups, in suitable premises) as well as providing a base for Local Employment Services and for training programmes run by CPLN Area Partnership, Co.
