(i) Members recommended that legal advice be sought from the Law Agent and provided to members in relation to any potential adverse implications of making a Tree Preservation Order for this location against the recommendation of the executive.

REPORT OF JOINT POLICING COMMITTEE - 5TH JUNE 2015

"To ask the Chief Executive, in relation to Greenhills Archery in Tymon Park, while clearly I agree with facilitating such a successful club there are a number of issues which are outstanding and need resolution in relation to their current location in the South West Corner of the Park near Balrothery/Castlelawns.

What consultation if any was carried out with the Residents who live in the proximity of the Park at that end? What meetings have been held between Greenhills Archery and the Council? The container they use has been moved once already, has a final location been agreed?

What precautions have been taken to prevent a stray shot from hitting bi-standers including people in the vicinity of their homes?

It should be noted that it is not helping matters that this particular end of the Park was neglected for years."

There was recently an ad campaign run encouraging people to rent their properties to the council for social housing.

To ask the Chief Executive how much is the ad campaign costing – whether or not the cost is to be picked up by SDCC - and how successful was the ad campaign? What was the uptake compared with a similar period for the previous year?

That this Committee asks the Chief Executive to investigate the problem of parking outside Woodies. The Bank of Ireland staff are parking in the estate causing major problems in the area for the current businesses in Whitestown. The gates at Woodies have planning for use for deliveries only. Currently it is been used for access through to the estate. Bank of Ireland have over 1000 staff and have parking for 600, leaving Whitestown with a parking problem and health and safety issue.

That this committee requests that the Council reviews its policy of not replacing or fixing windows, doors or similar fixtures in Council houses that have been the victim of crime, including burglary or anti-social behaviour.

That this Committee asks the Chief Executive to please give a report on the boundry wall at Swiftbrook Estate, Tallaght. This wall has been down a considerable time and residents are frustrated at the delay in the wall been rebuilt.

That this Council establish a working group to consider the growing problem of obesity within our County.  That such a working group would be made up of representatives from across a wide variety of stakeholders - schools, planners, elected members, management, with input from Social & Community SPC, Parks, Libraries, sporting bodies, this list is but an example of the agencies whose participation and involved is essential to its success and is therefore not exhaustive. As part of working group the involvement of schools could be achieved through the Parents’ Associations and perhaps the libraries in our County could host cookery demonstrations during Health & Wellbeing week. Another possible idea might be to extend the “social credit” scheme to children who walk/cycle to school or perhaps participate in a new/additional sport.
