Following the Constitutional Convention calls for enhanced constitutional protection for economic, social and cultural rights In May 2014, SDCC Calls for the Government to enact same. In particular, the Convention called for explicit recognition in the Constitution of the right to housing; the right to social security; the right to essential healthcare; the rights of people with disabilities; linguistic and cultural rights; and rights covered in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. We agree to write to An Taoiseach asking for the Government to enact same.

Proposed revised date for May 2016 meeting - Tuesday 10th May 2016
"To ask the Chief Executive to report on all communications, formal, indicative or informal, verbal and written made by the Minister for the Environment or his officials to Council Staff, in recent weeks, in relation to a decision being made on whether to merge the Clonburris SZD lands with the Council's own lands; to indicate to the best of his ability, the likely timeframe for such a response if none given as of yet; and if he will make a statement on the matter."
"To ask the Chief Executive for an update on all works or actions that have been completed or are in process following the Deputation made last year by Kew Parks Residents Association?"
"That the Chief Executive responsible report on the cleaning rota for the Palmerstown Laneways as some of the laneways have the appearance of not having been cleaned for a long time. Despite previous assurances, it would appear that the area where doors or boundary walls have been recessed back is not being cleaned by the Council. This is often the area where dumping takes place and if residents were to “push” it into the carriageway of the laneway they would be dumping and possibly causing an obstruction. The surface of some lanes is very broken and, especially where used as a regular right of way, a hazard for pedestrians or cyclists."
"To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the question submitted for the December Lucan ACM, Item 47306 to ask the Chief Executive to confirm if the Minister for Sport Mr. Paschal Donohue has made any reply in relation to the invite sent following motion Item 46147 in September 2015 to meet this Council to discuss the provision of a swimming pool for Lucan"
"That this committee writes to Dublin Bus to ask them to put extra busses on the 239 route due to demand from people in Lucan trying to get to Lucan village from the surrounding estates and also travelling to Blanchardstown."
"That the Chief Executive investigates the setting up of consultative park management committees involving residents from surrounding estates, with Willsbrook Park as a pilot scheme, to see where problems such as litter, dumping, antisocial behaviour, rats can be highlighted and dealt with quickly and effectively; and where potential improvements such as planting, upgrading security/access, maintenance, hours of use, bins etc could also be made, with the help of the local authority, Neighbourhood Watch, public agencies and local volunteers; subject to funding and ongoing public interest; and if she will make a statement on the matter."
"This Committee requests a review of Palmerstown Village to include the possibility of
1. relocating the public parking area to the Commercial side of the street,
2. an examination of the footpath between the end of the shops and the R148 to verify if it meets regulation width especially given that it’s the main route for pedestrians using Stewarts Special Facilities,
3. that land owners be approached to explore the provision of additional space for parking and if necessary adjustments to the width of the footpath and that a report be brought to the March meeting of this committee."
space for parking and if necessary adjustments to the width of the footpath and that a report be brought to the March meeting of this committee."
"To ask the Chief Executive to present a report for discussion at the meeting detailing all actions taken in the last 2 years by SDCC to address the serious illegal dumping issues at nos 6 & 8 Kilcronan Avenue; to detail the findings of the various EHO inspections at these addresses; and to outline what the council can do in the months ahead to resolve the issue given the failure of the owners to keep the properties clean."
"There are students all over parts of Lucan (and other areas) attending different schools which are not within walking distance which lead to a lot of traffic congestion especially in the morning time. Therefore this motion requests that the CEO investigates the benefit of introducing local school bus service to help alleviate traffic congestion."
"That this Committee agrees to the marking of an extra parking slot at Neilstown Shopping Centre for the Mill Cab Drivers."
"To ask the Chief Executive for a report on the cleansing of back lanes in Palmerstown; to ask for details of the frequency of cleansing, resource allocated and amount of waste removed; and to ask if there are any plans to install CCTV to act as a deterrent to dumping?"
