"That this Area Committee:
-
- Supports the opening, as soon as possible, of the extension of the access road to The Paddocks from Newcastle Road to link with Tandy’s Lane, referred to in the revised planning scheme as the ‘northern section of Loop Road 2’;
-
- expresses its concerns that - in advance of the opening of this main direct route - that The Paddocks Drive West will be opened onto Tandy’s Lane meaning that through-traffic from Newcastle Road will be diverted into the quieter residential areas of The Paddocks, including requiring to take two 90 degree corners; using roads not designed for substantial volumes of non-local traffic;

This Council calls on the Chief Executive to instigate a review of the utilisation of all bus lanes and quality bus corridors in the County. With traffic levels back to pre-recession levels it is important that our road space is utilised to the maximum. As bus routes sometimes change it could well be that some of the bus lanes and QBCs in our County are underutilised and no longer represent an efficient use of that road space.

Cathaoirleach's Business
That this Committee calls on the Chief Executive to investigate intrusions by stolen cars on to the footpaths that traverse Whitestown Stream adjacent to Dromcarra and Bawnlea Estate as it is becoming increasingly dangerous for pedestrians to use this space and creating an additional cost to the Council on the cleanup so after the cars are burnt out on the paths and the open spaces in the area. That this Committee further calls on the Chief Executive to provide a permanent solution to stopping access to this area by vehicles.
That this Area Committee provide more signs on roads that lead into Tallaght. We have a sign coming off the Glenview roundabout with Tallaght on it, I believe we should have more of these signs on different roads into Tallaght and on the way out. There could be an option for the signs to be sponsored by business so there is no cost to the Council.

"That the Chief Executive carries out a review of the road and safety standards on the Ballycullen Road at the entrance to Glenvara Park. The residents of Glenvara Park risk their lives daily in venturing out from their estate because oncoming traffic cannot be seen because of the curve of the bend. This blind spot is exacerbated by the speed of the traffic coming both up and down each side of the road. Can we see if the road needs speed reducing ramps or traffic calming measures? And can we examine the restriction of the Ballycullen road Bus lane to a 24 / 7 regime."
