"That this Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to prioritise low-cost road safety improvements along Lucan Road during 2017 in a bid to improve safe walking and cycling routes to the five schools in the Lucan Road/Chapel Hill area; including examining:

- Provision of improved kerbing and guard-railing (at narrowest footpath locations) along the footpath on the northern side of Lucan Road;

- Improvements to the footpath surface and kerbing in the vicinity of the pedestrian crossing and island at the top of Chapel Hill;

- A more stringent enforcement approach to the parking of vehicles ‘for sale’ on fooptaths along Lucan Road;

- Provision of addition safe drop-off spaces outside St. Mary’s Boy NS so as to provide an alternative to unsafe parking on footpaths."

That this committee asks the Chief Executive to further investigate the introduction of defibrillator signage within our County and to report back on the costs involved. The availability of defibrillators in our Community provide undisputed benefits and generally are provided through fundraising through sport clubs and other voluntary organisation. The introduction of signs identifying the location of defibrillators would greatly increase the likelihood of that they would be used effectively and quickly in case of an emergency. The erection of signage would also help identify areas which lack sufficient numbers of defibrillators.
