That this Area Committee supports the end to the system known as Direct Provision and acknowledges it is however now unlikely to end this during the lifetime of the current Government due to a number of Factors. In the mean time we call on the Government to do everything to make the system as easy as possible and that all refugees are treated equally and given the same opportunities. We again reaffirm our support for an end to the system called Direct Provision and that we commit to write to the Minister for Children, Equility, Disability, Integration and Youth and the Minister For Justice with the contents of this motion for his and her response.
That this Area Committee supports Clondalkin Tidy Towns call for a Name stone naming and remembering all those that died in world war 1 from Clondalkin at the site of the proposed World War 1 Memorial. This has been ongoing since 2014. Clondalkin Tidy Towns have the funding to undertake this work they just need permission from SDCC to go ahead. Could SDCC meet with the Clondalkin Tidy Towns to plan this memorial going forward?
To ask the Chief Executive for a report into the LAP process for Saggart and when this will start? To also ask will the process include an audit of existing services?
"In view of the fact that some Public Realm crews are now using strimmers, could the Manager arrange for the following areas to be cleared of overgrowth along stub walls and around utility boxes, lampposts, trees and verges. The stub wall along Avonmore Road, the inside of the stub wall at Firhouse Road West around Aylesbury Park, the utility boxes, railings on Heatherview Road and around the trees and lampposts on Church Grove?"
"Earlier in the year we had incidences of Anti Social behaviour in Sean Walshe Park as the evenings is getting darker I can the of sensitive lighting within the park be examined and options that don't impact natural habitats be explored?"
To ask the Chief Executive for a report broken down by each local park in the county of incidences of anti social behaviour / damages during the months June, July and August.
That this Area Committee support Bawnogue community centres call for a wheelchair accessible toilet to be installed to allow the centre to be inclusive to all of the Community. The centre has plans to extend it's service provision to people with disability and additional needs and to achieve this they require a fully accessible disability toilet. We ask for a full report into what needs to happen to get this completed.
That this Area Committee requests signs be provided which advise against the taking of birds or interfering with any wildlife, to also highlight the dangers of this to people. Also if these could include information about birds and the advisable foods to feed them. There are groups that could be consulted re this Bray Swan Sanctuary, Birdwatch Ireland and Kildare Wildlife Rescue.
That this Area Committee requests that SDCC look at how they could enforce dogs on leads around the pond-stream in Rathcoole Park and that SDCC look at increasing signage to deal with this and get the dog warden to do regular checks of this area. Also to ask that the planned Dog park is away from the pond-stream area. There has been an issue of dogs attacking wildlife in this area and some report feeling unsafe with dogs off the lead around this area.
